Bill Hanson, 2014 (SBOH#008)
Bill has one of the longer timelines on the beach, and was deeply involved with multiple facets of the community over several decades. In this interview, Bill provides some detail and background about the schism that resulted in the longstanding split between the north and the south beach. As he describes, some of this had to do with culture and some individual people, but a lot of it played out in the communal decisions about utilities, parking, and money. Bill also talks about the Salmon Beach community he encountered in the 1970s, and he provides valuable detail about his interactions and legal tussles with the city — emblematic and characteristic experiences for Salmon Beach at the time.
